So… after the second give-up on my birds I’m trying it one more time…. because my spare time has diminished quite a bit last years I decided not to go for a big project anymore. I found one in the USA which was restored about 6 years ago and actually has the setup I was planning for my own cars. Deluxe interior w. console, TH700R4 trans and headers. A bit of a tickled engine,.. all the big stuff I won’t be able to do myself anymore. Actually the car is on it’s way already. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the trip….
Just posting some more stuff; Posi gear, here an interesting article
Sold the bird… the subframe problem was too much for me… *bareuh* It’s a shame, I’ve put much effort in this already but I didn’t see me finishing the car with the time given nowadays.
Got the regulator and lock set. Installing was a breeze. The door lock were a bit stuck and needed cleaning but now they work like they should.
Waiting for some parts again. Seat buns, window regulators and steering column electrics. I disassembled the column, never wordked 100% and it was missing gear indicator hardware. It’a bit difficult to find out how it’s assembled originally…
So the project is stuck on the subframe… it’s cracked and maybe twisted too. I don’t feel like taking the whole thing apart (again) so this has stopped me from restoring for a while (as you might have noticed). Today I’ve taken out some of the interior, cleaned chrome strips and preparing the car to paint the inner door/window parts.
Yes, I know… long time no log… We bought a house and now I’m getting ready to move the car to our new place. I Hope things wil go a bit faster now I don’t have to travel for half an hour.
Did both brake cylinders on the rear axle and some upholstry work. Pfff.. don’t expect the repro upholstry kit to fit perfectly… Some fastening seams are just plain different from the original, especially on the rear bench.
Finally, the car is back from the garage, can you believe it took about six months? That’s what happens when you live in Europe and have a muscle car…. But I’ve got goodies piled up, ready for assembly!
The steering gear box is in! After waiting for about a month I can finally get crackin’ again. The 4-mount gearbox looks perfectly rebuilt. Thanks a million Bruce!
