What Design Can Do 2012 Interactive Event

It was a bit short notice, but then again: All good things mostly are… Together with Dagan Cohen, Willem van der Sluis and Ancilla Tilia it was decided to stir up the friday afternoon of the WDCD conference in Amsterdam.

The project was an interactive audience session in which the WDCD visitors were given big sized cardboard boards containing a letter. They could see themselves holding the letters on the big screen in the Stadsschouwburg.

The goal was to create an inspiring sentence for WDCD 2013. In order to achieve this I created an iPad app which was overlayed on the audience view at the venue’s beamer. In this app it was possible to give the audience a hint of the words they had to form; The app could change colors around a letter, play rewarding sounds, etc. (you could also tease the audience a little bt dragging around the letterboxes.

You’ll have to do with this rehearsal picture but a full video is on its way.

hethoutenhuis.org

Het Houten Huis is an award-winning theatre group, they create poetic performances which is accompanied by live music seamlessly flowing together bringing laughter and tears to young and old. Obviously this should be the reason to visit the site alone – but I also visit it regularily because I made the WordPress implementation on it.

Actually WordPress and it’s database structure is only used as a backend, the theme is highly modificated using all kinds of in-page loads to create a single-page experience.

Philips banners

I Made some banners for the Philips food division through Chunk-ID. I had some time to make nice scripts for the animations. e.g. the ‘food-world’ and coffee grinding. Click on the banners to see the flash versions

When archiving invoices and other receipts to your tax-administration there are always some receipts which do not have the correct VAT (BTW in Dutch) amounts noted. You need to get your calculator ( a real one or a widget), calculate the amounts with or without the VAT etc, etc… tedious!

Because I’m working with jQuery now anyway, I tought it should be pretty easy creating a calculator in HTML which has some functions built in to simplify this process.

And here it is (link opens in a popup)

Actually this thing turned out pretty neat. Apart from the VAT calculation – It’s also possible to input a complete formula in the display. Just click on the display screen to activate and start typing.

ofcourse you can type

707+707

and pressing enter calculates the result.

You can also enter this

 Math.sqrt((121+10)/445)*20

So, complete javascript formulas which you use on programming. Math.sqrt – that’s the square root command. Here’s an example list of what javascript is capable of.

Peecho animations

Peecho is a web service which allows you to publish your own magazines. I made small animations for the peecho penguin which liven up the site a bit.

Expert zet je schoentje actie

Has the year already passed? Expert has put the Zetjeschoentje-campaing online and I made some additions to last year’s success. If I remember correctly there were about 20.000 shoes at the end. The campaign is now not even halfway it’s time and now we already have over 10.000 shoes. I hope Santa has a good bandwidth on his hostingaccount ;-) www.expert.nl/zetjeschoentje
